As the direction of a ship in the ocean is determined by its rudder, the artist invokes justification to create his life by the power of his tongue. Simultaneously bestowing upon us a visceral insight into the metaphorical abyss and signifier of redemption, he employs language set to a higher frequency. At face value, perpetual innocence over rides the “fallen nature” of disparate existence. Defined not by location in time, but moving toward transcendence, In The Secret Place refers to the metaphysical. It is in this sense that we can best understand the music of Sean Allen Fenn.
